    The responsibility of owning and operating a business takes a huge amount of time and effort. It can be an overwhelming task. If your business happens to be based at home, you are taking on an entirely new dynamic.

    I challenge you to take this month to look at what you do in your ordinary day to day operations, and look at ways to turn your ordinary home based business into an extraordinary operation. To separate the ordinary from the extraordinary it takes just one word – “Extra”.

    In this issue will look at a few "Extra" things that may turn your ordinary efforts into extraordinary results.

    I will introduce you to a coach who has turned his Extra-weight issues into an Extra-ordinary support system. Our book pick of the month is also a great read and a wonderful way to help you examine what strengths you already have and how to take yourself to a whole new level.

    It takes just one word

    The thing that takes the ordinary to extraordinary is just one word – “Extra”.

    As a Home based business owner you are not only looking at how to balance your time between family and work, you need to consider the balance between each activity and role you have within your business.

    The question, I have for you as a home based business owner is this: How can you take an ordinary home-based business, and turn it into an extraordinary revenue generating, well balanced and manageable operation?

    You may need to stretch your thinking, get bold and commit yourself to not only considering a change, but actually making the change.

    I urge you to look first at your Money. Are you making just and average amount of profit, based on industry standards?
    Could you spend a few moments looking at just one thing you could put in place that would increase your revenue.
    Then look at your energy - what pulls you forward, how is your energy level? Is it always at just an ordinary level, do you have a mundane schedule? What could you do to put "pep in your step"? What Extra effort could you place in your day to bring about a higher level of energy?
    Finally, look at the way you are responding to your clients/customers. Are you taking the extra effort to reach them on a timely manner? Can your clients tell when you make that extra effort for them?

    Below, I offer a few tips and resources that may be helpful in addressing some of these issues:

    1. Marketing Efforts - Many times as a home-based business we are very concerned about how much marketing we do, we even attempt to put in place a marketing plan and also find time in our busy schedule to do a bit. Consider marketing one EXTRA value you can offer; One EXTRA benefit that may just be the tipping point for your customer; One EXTRA paragraph that responds to the client’s needs from their perspective. When you take that EXTRA EFFORT to get your marketing message to just a few more people, you will be amazed at the response.     2. Environment - When you wake up in the morning, what motivates you? Why are you working everyday? What makes you come into your office? Are you working with passion, or is this home based-business just a job? Are you scheduling into your week, some extreme self care? Many times we get stuck in our daily rut, without really taking the EXTRA time to take care of ourselves. The best way to do this and stay accountable is to look at hiring a coach. Someone who will help you stay focused and to build into your daily schedule YOU time. A coach will help you to strategize and make time for yourself.

    3. Your Customer Service Level - It’s the small things that cause a business to lose clients, some days it’s in the backend of the business. While you are spending hundreds of dollars to find your clients, you may also be losing them as fast as they come with the level of your customer service. For example, how good is your email replying discipline? You may want to consider what it would take to answer each email within 24 hours. You may even take an EXTRA step, by finding ways to sort your email to help you manage it in a more productive way. Look at Outlook by Microsoft for a very efficient and easy way to help you manage your contacts. Many other products are out there but this one I recommend, as it is very user friendly.

    Being in control of your money, your energy and your environment may seem to be very tedious and something that is ordinarily done as routine. But I encourage you to take that EXTRA moment to ensure that your business is running as smoothly as it can to create extraordinary results because:

    When you have a limited amount of time to make an unlimited amount of money, every bit of your Effort should be Effective!

    Meet Jeffy Jeff

    Overweight. Fat. Obese. I lived with these negative words for nearly 30 years.

    Sure, I tried to eat less and I tried to eat slower. In fact, I tried every fad diet, joined Weight Watchers three times and even opted for the low-carb Atkins diet. But I always gained back the weight I lost. In addition, I was taking 8 pills a day - from everything related to high blood pressure to acid reflux disease. To complicate matters, I started to have tingling sensations in my legs which quickly created issues with walking. I was 365 pounds and I was miserable.

    Over a period of two months, I began seeing news stories featuring the singer, Carnie Wilson and weatherman, Al Roker. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the results they had due to weight loss surgery.

    Then, two of my closest friends had the same procedure and dropped at least 200 pounds each. It was at this point that I knew I had to begin exploring this new and exciting option! Immediately, I began spending hours combing the internet in search of every item I could find regarding this process. I looked into every doctor in my area that performed this method of weight loss.

    My excitement was quickly dashed when I injured my back lifting some boxes at work. I was put out on Workers Compensation and began using a walker, as my walking became more debilitating.
