What is Coaching?

COACHING is a relationship between two or more people where
the coach focuses on the client and is committed to guiding
the clients journey to creating a rewarding life.
Through questions, active listening, and feedback, the coach
supports a client in identifying and achieving their goals and
objectives. A coach wears many hats including advocate,
mentor, teacher, resource, challenger, and devils advocate.
Coaches are people who: Guide clients in setting goals for a
better life
Encourage clients to do more than the clients would do on
their own
Focus clients to produce better results
Provide tools, support and structure for client to accomplish
more
Coaches work with clients on whatever issues the client wants
to address regarding setting and achieving goals for a better
life.
A coach is a client's champion, cheerleader, advocate, at
times mentor, and greatest supporter possible. Clients who
work with a coach get focused and produce better results
because they respond favorably to someone who truly listens to
them and encourages them to live their dreams.
How does coaching differ from consulting, therapy, sports
coaching, or having a best friend?
COACHING AND CONSULTING
Coaching is a form of consulting
Pure consulting is a short-term agreement to complete a
specific project.
A coach stays with the client to help implement the new
skills, behavioral changes and goals to assure that they
happen and are sustained.
COACHING AND THERAPY
Coaching is not therapy Therapists work on past issues or look
to the past to understand what is causing a client's current
behavior.
Coaches focus on the future and help clients move forward by
setting personal and professional goals that help the to
create the life they really want.
COACHING AND SPORTS
Coaching includes several principles from sports coaching like
teamwork, going for the goal, and being your personal best.
Unlike sports coaching, professional coaching is not based on
win/lose competition.
A coach strengthens the clients skills instead of helping them
to beat the other team. It is always win/win.
COACH vs BEST FRIEND
A best friend is wonderful to have. Is your best friend a
professional whom you will trust to advise you on the most
important aspects of your life and/or business? keep your best
friend and hire a coach.
